Secrets Of Make Up Artists…

One of the most amazing perks I’ve got in my life at the moment is that because of the amount of TV I’m doing, I’m lucky enough to have professional make up done when I get into work. (Believe you me, viewers would be turning off their TV sets if they saw the state I’m in usually).

Some of the tricks of the trade are fascinating. It’s also interesting to note that every make up artist I’ve worked with has a supply of both pricey and value items.

First trick up is primer. I’ve always been a bit lazy doing this bit (could be a reason why I look so dreadful normally!). The most delicious brand I’ve had used on me is by MAC, but there are some good High Street ones at Boots – go play.

Next tip is – blend. Have an array of sponges and brushes to make sure your facepaint looks less "Jersey Shore" more "The City"!

Where you really don’t need to splurge is mascara and lipgloss. The most important thing is just to make sure you change it regularly. I love Maybelline for my eyes and Rimmel for my lips.

Also, have a look at products from smaller make up companies. Last friday I was introduced to the divine Yin Yang Cosmetics. And, I know it’s pricey, but Space NK is an amazing place to go to have a nose around for some boutique brands.

Enjoy ladies. We need to love the skin we’re in…
